Feb. 3, 2007 FINDLAY, Ohio - The men's distance medley relay set a new school record, and junior Adam Smith won the men's 400-meter run to highlight the Lake Superior State track and field team's showing at the DII Team Challenge held Friday and Saturday at the University of Findlay. LSSU clocked a school-record 10:19.71 to finish second in the distance medley behind Grand Valley State (10:08.30). Smith won the men's 400 in :48.98, while teammate DJ Battistella was third in :49.99. They helped lead the Lakers to a fifth-place finish among 12 teams. Ben Tarbutton was second in the men's 3,000-meter run (8:52.25) and third in the 5,000-meter run (15:22.76). Marc Small placed third in the men's 800-meter run (1:56.83). The Laker 4x400-meter relay was fourth in 3:24.02. Other top-10 finishers included Evan Williams in the 800, Scott Hosie in the 5,000 and Travis Baril in the high jump. Katie Scott finished seventh in the mile (5:13.59), and Stephanie Riedel was eighth in the 3,000-meter run (11:23.65) to lead the Laker women, who placed 11th in the team standings.
