BOSTOM, Mass. - Freshman Eric Ouellette shattered Lake Superior State's six-year-old school record in the men's 800-meter run by clocking a 1:53.93 to place 18th among 189 competitors in the event Saturday at the Boston University Valentine's Day Invitational. Ouellette bettered the previous mark of 1:54.64 set by J.P. Benke in 2002 and met the NCAA National Qualifying Standard. His time is currently the 12th fastest nationally. "Not a bad weekend for a freshman," noted LSSU coach Steve Eles. Sophomore Paul Davis broke his own 200-meter dash record by finishing in :22.50. He placed 37th among 202 competitors. |
