Smith earns All-America after placing sixth in NCAA 400 dash

BOSTON, Mass. - Lake Superior State junior Adam Smith placed sixth in the men's 400-meter dash finals at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships and earned All-America status.

Smith (Mount Pleasant, Mich.) qualified ninth during the preliminaries on Friday with a time of :48.74. During the finals on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center, he clocked a :48.29 and moved up three spots.

Smith is also an academic all-American.
