TIFFIN, Ohio - Lake Superior State freshman Jill Walton set a new school record in the outdoor shot put while competing in her first collegiate track and field meet on Friday at Tiffin University.

Walton placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 11.63 meters. She also finished seventh in the discus throw (33.91m).

LSSU's Mandi DeBlock, Marissa Ingle, Jade Szubelak and Ashley Quick clocked a 10:10.56 to set a new school record in the women's 4x800-meter relay. The LSSU men's 4x800-meter relay record also fell as Adam Smith, Marc Small, Evan Williams and Jason Ferguson finished second in 8:13.91.

Katie Scott won the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:42.92. Quick was third in the 1,500 with a time of 5:08.72, and Ingle was fourth in 5:14.41. Jade Szubelak and Alyse Smith also finished in the top 10 in the 1,500.

Travis Baril cleared 1.93 meters to win the men's high jump. Scott Hosie was second (15:45.00) and Tom Thornton was fourth (15:54.80) in the men's 5,000-meter run. Small placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of :51.49.
