May 5, 2007 MIDLAND - The Lake Superior State men's and women's track and field teams both broke two school records during the final day of competition at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships Friday at Northwood University. Freshman Katie Scott placed fourth in the women's 5,000-meter run in a school-record time of 18:00.75. She broke Kristin Carson's record of 18:09.77 set in 2005. The LSSU women's 4x400-meter relay team also set a new school record of 4:19.23. The names of relay participants were not available. Junior Adam Smith met the NCAA Provisional Qualifying Time in the men's 400-meter dash by placing second in :47.13. He also bettered his previous mark of :47.37. Freshmen Jordan Baker, Darryl Byrge, Travis Baril and Paul Davis also improved upon their school record in the men's 4x100-meter relay. They placed sixth in :42.93. Smith, Marc Small, Evan Williams and Ross Malatinsky were fourth in the men's 4x400-meter relay.
