NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Lake Superior State junior DJ Battistella placed second in the 400-meter hurdles at the Dr. Keeler Invitational on Friday in Naperville, Ill., and sophomore Katie Scott finished eighth in the 3,000-meter run at the Len Paddock Invitational held Saturday in Ann Arbor.

Scott clocked a 10:39.09 in the 3K race at the University of Michigan. She was 12th with a time of 11:28.13 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Friday during the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central College.

Battistella had a hurdles time of :54.36 at NCC. While competing at U-M, Battistella was seventh in the 400-meter dash (:50.18).

Both Laker athletes previously met the National Qualifying Standard in their best events and were trying to improve their national rankings.

Scott's fastest time of 11:16.45 ranked 33rd nationally on the national top performer's list.
