CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Lake Superior State junior Adam Smith clocked a :48.06 to place 15th in the NCAA Division II men's 400-meter dash preliminaries on Thursday at Johnson C. Smith University.

Smith, who earned all-America status during the indoor track season, did not advance to the finals. The top eight qualifiers moved on, and the cutoff time was :47.16.

The fastest preliminary time of :46.08 was recorded by Hakeem Mohammad of North Carolina Central.
