Pavicic finishes ninth in NCAA men's 1,500

EMPORIA, Kan. - Lake Superior State senior Anthony Pavicic finished ninth among 12 finalists in the men's 1,500-meter run Saturday at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships in Emporia State University.

Pavicic ran a time of 4:04.75 and missed earning All-America honors by one spot. He finished third in his preliminary heat on Thursday and was seeded third going into the finals.

NCAA champion Przemek Bobrowski of Harding won the race in 4:01.27 as none of the 12 finalists broke the four-minute mark.

Pavicic, the 2006 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion in the men's 1,500, will leave LSSU holding five school records, including the men's 1,500 outdoor record of 3:50.68.
