Jan. 24, 2007 SAULT STE MARIE - Thirteen Lake Superior State fall sport athletes representing the 2006 cross country, volleyball and women's tennis teams received Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team honors. LSSU's highest-ranking student-athletes included junior middle hitter Jamie Groos (Escanaba, Mich.) of the volleyball team, who has a 3.97 grade point average while majoring in computer science, and redshirt freshman cross country team member Katie Scott (Mitchell, Ont.), who carries a 3.91 gpa while majoring in exercise science. Scott, the Lakers' No. 1 runner this season, was also named academic all-America and headed a Laker squad that earned academic All-America team honors by posting a team gpa of 3.52. Senior Celina Grondin (Fleurimont, Que.), who has a 3.46 gpa while majoring in business administration, played No. 1 singles and doubles in women's tennis and had the Lakers' highest gpa. Academic leaders on the men's cross country team were sophomore Luke Allen (Manistee, Mich.), a political science major, and junior Evan Williams (Plainwell, Mich.), a math major.
