MOUNT PLEASANT - Six Lake Superior State runners, led by Brooke Brenner of the women's team and Ben Tarbutton of the men's team, finished in the top 30 at the season-opening Jeff Drenth Memorial 5K on Friday at Central Michigan's University Park Course.

Brenner placed 16th in 19:49.1 and was fourth among Division II runners. Teammate Mandi DeBlock was 28th in 20:26.

Tarbutton was 21st in 16:37 and first among Division II runners. However LSSU senior Anthony Pavicic was competing unattached and placed 19th in 16:35. Tom Thornton finished 25th in 16:44, followed by Scott Hosie, who was 27th in 16:46.
