EAST LANSING - Senior Brooke Brenner placed 44th in 23:38 to lead the Lake Superior State women's cross country team at the 2005 Spartan Invitational held Friday at the Forest Akers East golf course.

Brenner was fifth among non-Division I runners, while sophomore Mandi DeBlock placed 54th overall in 23:51 and 11th among non-DI competition.

The LSSU men were led by sophomore Tom Thornton, who was 75th overall in 27:12. Junior Scott Hosie was 77th, followed by sophomore Ben Tarbutton in 78th. Both runners posted a time of 27:14.
