13 fall sport athletes earn GLIAC All-Academic recognition

MIDLAND - Thirteen Lake Superior State University athletes, including five in women's tennis and five in volleyball, received Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team recognition for the 2003-04 fall season.

All-academic team honorees in women's tennis were senior Mary Blake (3.33 grade point average, business administration), junior Julie Britz (3.15 gpa, nursing), junior Kellie Hammond (3.00 gpa, education), junior Kelly Sheehan (3.29 gpa, business administration) and sophomore Andrea Knibbs (3.39 gpa, liberal arts).

LSSU volleyball players named to the GLIAC All-Academic Team were senior Ariel Huff (3.40 gpa, early childhood education), junior Erin Baker (3.08 gpa, criminal justice), junior Kristy James (3.83 gpa, history), sophomore Ashlee Buckley (3.56 gpa, nursing) and sophomore Vanessa Vincent (3.05 gpa, nursing).

Three members of the Laker cross country team were also named to the all-academic squad. They were: senior Jeff Thuss (3.08 gpa, elementary education), senior Matt VanEffen (3.39 gpa, social studies) and sophomore Jennifer Klausing (3.42 gpa, liberal arts).
