Former Laker basketball coach Mark Paluszak dead at 62

TOLEDO, Ohio - Former Lake Superior State men's basketball coach Mark Paluszak, 62, died Monday, May 14, at The James Cancer Hospital.

Paluszak coached at LSSU in 1989-90 and 1990-91.

He was a graduate of St. Francis DeSales High School (Toledo) and the University of Toledo, where he played basketball. He coached basketball at Toledo DeVilbiss High School, Eastern Michigan University, Ohio Dominican College, George Williams College (Downers Grove, Ill.), Bowling Green State University, Whetstone High School, Otterbein College and Ohio Wesleyan University. He was currently with the Delaware Area Career Center where he was coaching basketball and golf at Big Walnut Middle School.

Paluszak was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jackie Paluszak, son Mark Paluszak II, daughter Jennifer (J.B.) Hadden, grandchildren Lindsey and Brandon, mother Catherine Paluszak, brother Tim (Carole) Paluszak and his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Aloysius Paluszak.

Funeral mass is today at St. Paul Catholic Church, 313 North State St., in Westerville, Ohio. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
