May 24, 2007 SAULT STE. MARIE - The Lake Superior State men's basketball team signed guard Micah Hudson of Rives Junction, Mich., and center Michael Boylan of Grayling, Mich., to a National Letter of Intent. Hudson, who is 6-3, 175 pounds, helped lead Chelsea High School to a 23-2 record and Class B district title in 2006-07. He averaged 15.2 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Hudson earned Associated Press All-State Honorable Mention and was named to the Detroit Free Press All-State Fifth Team, Ann Arbor News All-Area Second Team and All-Southeastern Conference First Team. He scored more than 1,400 career points. "Micah is an exceptionally versatile player," LSSU assistant men's basketball Troy Forbes said. "He played on a great high school team, and led them in scoring and rebounding. He also shot over 40 percent from the three-point line, while playing every position at one time or another." Boylan, at 6-10, 260 pounds, averaged 11.6 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.9 blocks shots per game for Grayling High School. He shot 54 percent from the field. Boylan, whose twin brother Jim will play at Ferris State, was named to the All-Lake Michigan Conference First Team and Gaylord Herald-Times All-Area Second Team. He was ranked in the top 10 in his class academically with a 3.8 grade point average. "Mike came on strong towards the end of last season," Forbes said. "He averaged about 15 points and 10 rebounds per game over his last 11 games." "We are very excited about landing two fine student-athletes who are good, high-character people and great basketball players as well," said LSSU's new head coach, Steve Hettinga. "We are looking forward to working with Micah and Mike throughout the next four years. Both guys are good students and come from good families. They bring lot to the table and are very anxious to be here. We were their first choice, and we are excited to have kids who want to be part of what we are doing." |
