ABERDEEN, S.D. - Undefeated Minnesota State-Moorhead pulled away from a 42-42 tie midway through the second half to beat Lake Superior State in Friday's non-conference men's basketball game, 81-66. LSSU's Scott Perkins and Garrett Konuszewski hit back-to-back three-pointers to tie the game, 42-42, with 14:45 remaining. MSU-Moorhead (3-0) answered with a nine-point run, then extended its lead to 15 points by the 5:17 mark of the second half. Four players scored in double figures for the Lakers (0-3). Tim VanOudheusden led LSSU with 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Micah Hudson followed with 12 points. Ryan Kuhl added 11 points and nine rebounds, and Mark Morse totaled 10 points. Hudson and Mike Rader were a combined 6-for-12 from the field, including 4-for-7 from three-point range. The Lakers shot 40 percent from the field, made 8-of-20 three-point shots and 14-of-20 free throws. They out-rebounded MSU-M, 37-32. Five players reached double figures for Minnesota State-Moorhead, which shot 47.9 percent from the field, made 6-of-17 three-point shots and 29-of-37 free throws. Blake Strouth was 10-of-11 at the line and led his team with 18 points and five steals. LSSU plays host Northern State at 8 p.m. CT on Saturday. |
