ABERDEEN, S.D. - Undefeated Northern State's impressive three-point shooting was too much for the Lake Superior State men's basketball team, which suffered an 83-68 road loss to the Wolves on Saturday. Northern State (4-0) shot 63 percent from three-point range, making 12-of-19 attempts, and outscored the Lakers 16-8 on second-chance points. NSU's Craig Nelson hit five three-pointers and finished with 19 points, and Kevin Ratzsch led the Wolves with 21 points and four rebounds. Mark Morse scored 22 points, while Ryan Kuhl and 16 and Micah Hudson 10 to lead Lake Superior State (0-4). Kuhl also led the Lakers in rebounds with eight, and Scott Perkins totaled four assists and three steals. LSSU shot 45 percent from the field, including 9-of-19 from three-point range, and made 21-of-24 free throws. NSU shot 58 percent from the field and was 11-of-17 at the line. The Wolves out-rebounded LSSU, 27-21. Both teams totaled 18 turnovers. The Lakers play at Northwood at 8 p.m. Wednesday in their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener. |
