SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State junior Brad Ward shot a seven-over 151 to finish in a five-way tie for fifth place at the second of four NCAA Regional golf tournaments held this year.

The regional, held at Lafayette Golf Club in Kentucky, was the spring season opener for the Lakers, who finished 18th with a 671 team total.

Ward carded a 77-74-151 and finished five strokes behind medalist Chris Chandler (72-74-146) of Northwood.

Matt Hechlik (82-70-160) tied for 32nd, followed by Josh Valencic (89-87-176) who tied for 82nd and Mike Gietzen (95-89-184) who tied for 85th.
