DETROIT - Lake Superior State senior golfer Brad Ward was 3-under after the first round and shot even par during the second round to finish in a three-way tie for second place at the 36-hole Motor City Invitational held Friday.

Ward fired a 69-72-141 to tie with Wayne State's Jacob Abramson and Spring Arbor's Jeff Malburg. He finished three strokes behind medalist Ryan Johnson of WSU.

LSSU's Frank Kucher (80-71--151) tied for 15th, while Geoff Arnoldy (81-86--167) tied for 70th and Mike Gietzen (84-87--171) was 78th.

The Lakers totaled 630 strokes and placed 10th in the team standings.
