SAGINAW - Lake Superior State No. 1 golfer Brad Ward moved from a tie for 16th place to fifth-place tie after firing a 69 during Sunday's second round of the Bay Valley Intercollegiate held at Bay Valley Golf Club.

Ward totaled a 75-69-144 and finished eight strokes behind medalist Justin Holyszko of Northwood. The Lakers were eighth among 10 teams. Grand Valley finished two strokes ahead of Northwood to win the team title.

Rounding out LSSU scores were: 28-tie. Mike Gietzen, 76-76-152; 30-tie. Josh Valencic 79-74-153; 54. Matt Hechlick, 94-74-168; 55. Jason Solgat, 88-83-171.

The Lakers wrap up their fall season at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Oct. 5-6 in Allendale.
