Jakaitis leads Lakers to second scoreless tie in school history

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Lake Superior State and Bowling Green skated to a scoreless tie for the second time this season and the second time in LSSU history on Saturday at BGSU Ice Arena.

LSSU freshman goaltender Jeff Jakaitis (2-6-3) totaled 31 saves for his second career shutout. His other shutout was also a 0-0 tie against the Falcons on Nov. 15, 2003,m when he totaled 30 saves.

BGSU goalie Jordan Sigalet (9-13-8) stopped all 21 shots on Saturday.

The Lakers (6-16-6 overall, 4-14-4 Central Collegiate Hockey Association) finished 0-for-4 on the power play for the game and 0-for-11 with the man-advantage for the weekend. The Falcons (9-14-8 overall, 7-11-5 CCHA) were 0-for-3 on the power play for the game.

The tie enabled LSSU to pick up one point in the CCHA standings and move into an 11th-place tie with Nebraska-Omaha, which was swept by Ohio State. Next weekend, the Lakers play a home-and-home series against Northern Michigan. The series opens at NMU on Friday.
