FARMINGTON HILLS - Lake Superior State sophomore Simon Gysbers was named Central Collegiate Hockey Association Defenseman of the Week after totaling a goal and three assists to lead the Lakers to their first conference win of the season.

Gysbers, a 6-4, 195-pounder from Richmond Hill, Ont., scored LSSU's first goal during Saturday's 4-1 victory over Bowling Green State, and assisted on the Lakers' other three goals. He also blocked five shots over the weekend.

Gysbers has three goals and seven assists through 20 games this season.

Michigan's Chad Kolarik was named CCHA Offensive Player of the Week, while Michigan State's Jeff Lerg earned Goaltender of the Week honors. Miami's Carter Camper was named Rookie of the Week.

LSSU is 3-13-4 overall and 1-10-3 in the CCHA heading into this weekend's series at Miami.
