Jakaitis earns CCHA All-Rookie Team Honorable Mention

FARMINGTON HILLS - Lake Superior State goaltender Jeff Jakaitis received honorable mention on the Central Collegiate Hockey Association All-Rookie Team.

Jakaitis currently boasts the league's best overall goals-against average of 2.02 and has the second-best goals-against average in conference games at 1.96. He has an overall save percentage of .935.

Jakaitis, who was one of the last players to sign with LSSU prior to the 2003-04 season, ranks seventh nationally in goals against -- second among freshmen. Cornell's David McKee is ranked second nationally and first among freshmen at 1.68.

CCHA All-Rookie First Team picks included Miami forwards Matt Christie and Marty Guerin, Michigan forward T.J. Hensick and defenseman Matt Hunwick, and Michigan State defenseman A.J. Thelen and goaltender Dominic Vicari.

Other players receiving honorable mention were: (forwards) Michigan State's Tom Goebel, Northern Michigan's Darin Olver, Alaska Fairbanks' Curtis Fraser, Ohio State's Andrew Schembri, Nebraska-Omaha's Scott Parse, Western Michigan's Paul Szczechura; (defensemen) Notre Dame's Wes O'Neill, Bowling Green's Jonathan Sigalet, Ferris State's Giovanni Flamminio; (goaltenders) Notre Dame's David Brown and Miami's Brandon Crawford-West.
