Jason Blain

March 13, 2008

FARMINGTON HILLS - Senior forward Jason Blain has been named Lake Superior State's nominee for the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Scholar-Athlete Award.

Blain, a finance-economics major with a 4.0 grade point average, appeared in 32 games and totaled two goals and six assists this season. He will be recognized at the 2008 CCHA Awards Banquet on March 20 at the Fox Theater in Detroit.

Sophomore forward Nathan Perkovich received votes for the All-CCHA Team, and freshman goaltender Brian Mahoney-Wilson earned honorable mention on the CCHA All-Rookie Team.

Perkovich led the Lakers in goals scored and totaled 17-8--25 for the season. He had the most goals by a Laker since Terry Marchant scored 17 during the 1997-98 season. He tied for 12th in the CCHA in goals scored and tied for ninth in power-play goals with nine.

Mahoney-Wilson finished 6-10-3 in net for LSSU this season. He had a goals-against average of 3.00 and a save percentage of .899. He was ranked third among CCHA freshmen in both categories.

Blain and sophomore goaltender Pat Inglis will represent LSSU at the CCHA Awards Banquet. Inglis was the Lakers' Perani Cup points leader.
