Former Laker Grahame to play in IIHF World Championship

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Former Lake Superior State goalie John Grahame will be returning to the U.S. Men's National Team to compete in the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship in Moscow, April 27-May 13.

Grahame, who played with Team USA in the 2006 Winter Olympics, is second overall in Lake Superior State career wins with 56 and ninth overall in season saves with 950. He played for the Lakers from 1994-97 and helped them earn three NCAA playoff bids.

Grahame is one of seven players who have previously competed in the IIHF World Championship.

An exhibition will be played at Globe Arena against Sweden on April 25 at 7 p.m. The team's first IIHF game will take place at 4:15 against Austria.

Grahame was 10-13-2 with a 2.85 goals-against average for the Carolina Hurricanes during the 2006-07 season.
