Oleksy and Peterson to play in IIHF InLine Hockey World Championship

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Lake Superior State senior defenseman Steve Oleksy and former Laker forward Chris Peterson will play for the U.S. InLine National Team at the 2008 International Ice Hockey Federation InLine Hockey World Championship in Bratislava, Slovakia, June 21-28.

The tournament will include 16 teams in two pools. Team USA opens June 22 against Germany.

Peterson ('04, Macomb, Mich.) served as captain and totaled four goals and two assists for the gold medal U.S. team in 2006. He also helped lead the U.S. to a gold medal in 2004 and a bronze in 2005.

Oleksy (Chesterfield, Mich.) totaled one goal and six assists for the Lakers last season.

Note: Former LSSU assistant hockey coach Ron Rolston, currently one of two head coaches for the U.S. National Team Development Program, will serve as head coach of the U.S. National Junior Team at the 2009 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, Dec. 26 through Jan. 5 in Ottawa, Ont. Rolston led the U.S. to a bronze medal at the 2007 IIHF World Junior Championship in Leksand and Mora, Sweden. He recently completed his fourth season with the U.S. NTDP.
