Chris Peterson

July 8, 2005

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo--- Former Lake Superior State forward Chris Peterson was named to the USA Hockey InLine National Team that will represent the United States in Kuopio, Finland for the 2005 International Ice Hockey Federation InLine Hockey World Championship. Peterson and Team USA will take on teams from 16 different nations July 9-16.

Peterson rejoins Team USA as one of nine returnees from last summer's 2004 gold-medal-winning USA Hockey InLine National Team. Peterson played for Lake Superior State for four seasons from 2000-2004. He totaled 33 points in 113 games with nine goals and 24 assists. Peterson graduated from LSSU with a degree in political science and a minor in business.

Three Michigan natives will serve as captains for Team USA. Ernie Harlieb (Sterling Heights) was named captain. Peterson (Clinton Township) and Jason Deskins (Warren) will serve as assistant captains.

Dan Brennan returns as the head coach of Team USA for the fifth straight year.

"I think we have a remarkable team this year," said Brennan. "The team has a great blend of speed and size, which is what it will take to compete on an Olympic-size sheet against the top teams."

The USA joins Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Finland, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Sweden in Pool A. Team USA will take on Slovenia on Sunday July 10.
