Cotton Kings pick up former Laker Weisgerber

Trevor Weisgerber

Aug. 23, 2006

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Lubbock Cotton Kings and the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League reached an agreement in June, sending the rights of forward Emery Olauson to the Bees in exchange for the rights of former Lake Superior State forward Trevor Weisgerber.

The Cotton Kings placed Weisgerber under contract on Aug. 23.

Weisgerber, who played at LSSU from 1999-01, played in all 64 games last season with the Killer Bees and led the Bees in scoring with a franchise single-season best 63 points (20-43-64). The 27-year-old also set the franchise record for consecutive games with an assist (six), and co-led the team in special-team goals (12), power-play goals (nine), short-handed goals (three) and game-winning goals (five).

The 6-2, 185-pound forward spent three seasons playing for the San Angelo Saints prior to joining the Killer Bees.
