Lakers drop Game 2 of Home-and-Joe series

DETROIT - Michigan completed a sweep in its first Central Collegiate Hockey Association series by defeating Lake Superior State 5-2 on Saturday at Joe Louis Arena.

U-M (4-1-1 overall, 2-0-0 CCHA) came back from a 2-1 deficit with four straight goals during the final 22 minutes of regulation. The Wolverines took the lead for good on goals by Chad Kolarik at 16:58 and Nick Martens at 18:15 of the second period.

LSSU (0-4-0 overall, 0-2-0 CCHA) took the 2-1 lead on a power-play goal by Alex Dunn at :38 and an even-strength goal by Nathan Ward at 11:40 of the second period. B.J. Pelkey drew the assist on Ward's goal.

T.J. Hensick, Andrew Ebbett and Eric Werner also scored goals for Michigan. Hensick, Milan Gajic and Kevin Porter had two assists each.

LSSU goaltender Jeff Jakaitis totaled 24 saves, while Al Montoya had 22. The Lakers were 1-for-9 on the power play, while U-M was 1-for-5.

LSSU dropped to 10-4 against Michigan at Joe Louis Arena.
