Team USA finishes second to Canada

Nov. 9, 2002

HANNOVER, Germany - Former Laker hockey player Brian Felsner scored at 19:02 of the first period, and another former Laker, Keith Aldridge, scored at 10:20 of the third period for the United States National Selects, who blanked Germany 2-0 Friday, Nov. 8, in the opening game of the 2002 Deutschland Cup. Team USA went on to finish second in the tournament.

Pat Mikesch found an open Felsner from along the boards, and Felsner's shot from the right slot beat German goaltender Robert Muller. Aldridge took a pass from Kevin Miller, and, although fanning on his first attempt, regrouped and beat Muller to the weak side. Mikesch added his second assist of the game.

Canada (2-0) defeated the U.S. National Selects 3-1 on Saturday, Nov. 9. The U.S. came back to shut out Switzerland 1-0 Sunday. Ted Drury scored the Selects' only goal at 2:06 of the third period.
