MIDLAND - The Lake Superior State men's tennis team lost its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener 8-1 at 19th-ranked Northwood on Friday.

LSSU rookies Travis Toth and Jack Miller won 9-7 at No. 3 doubles to thwart the Timberwolves' shutout. NU improved to 3-2 for the season. Lake Superior State will take a 5-7 record into Saturday's match at Wayne State.
