BIG RAPIDS, Mich.--The Lake Superior State men's tennis team lost 7-2 Sunday morning to Ferris State University. Ferris State is ranked 33rd in the Fila Division II Collegiate Tennis National Rankings. The Lakers fell to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Despite losing the last two GLIAC matches, LSSU coach Charlie Drury is very positive about the season outlook for his team.

"The GLIAC is a strong conference this year," Drury said. "We want to finish in the top tier in order to make post season play. Our team is a lot of fun to watch. Simon-Pierre Caron won three of his four matches last weekend. He has a lot of spark and is our fire-up guy. Geoff's performance against Ferris State was truly gutsy. He lost the first set, won the second and had to go into a super tie-breaker, where the winner is determined by the first person to get to ten points and win by two. Geoff ripped a back handed shot down the line to win. Overall our team is very hard working. Our everyday practices are spirited and intense. They are a great team that is very supportive of each other."

The Lakers will begin a three game home series beginning March 29, when LSSU will play host to Michigan Tech University. The match will begin at 2 p.m. in the Student Activities Center in the Norris Center of LSSU.
