Lakers compete at GVSU fall tournament :: Baas leads LSSU with 2-1 singles mark

ALLENDALE - Junior Craig Baas was 2-1 in singles, and the rookie doubles team of Eddie Langford and Jack Miller was 2-1 in doubles to lead the Lake Superior State men's tennis team, which competed at the Grand Valley State University Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

After losing his first match to GVSU's Patryk Polus, 6-0, 6-1, Baas came through the consolation bracket to beatMarcello Souza of Grand Rapids Community College, 6-1, 6-0, and teammate Steve Demps, 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles, Langford and Miller lost 8-5 in the first round, but posted back-to-back 8-6 wins to take the consolation bracket.

In singles, Pawel Wegrzyn was 1-1, and Demps, Langford, Miller and Travis Toth were 1-2. Bass and Demps posted a 1-2 doubles mark.
