The Lakers' best NCAA finish was in 2004, when they reached the Sweet Sixteen before falling to Quincy in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional finals. Following the 2002-03 season, Dunbar was named Women's Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan College Coach of the Year. That year the Lakers led the NCAA Division II in field-goal shooting percentage and posted the nation's second-best scoring average of 84.6 points per game. Dunbar had the opportunity to coach senior All-American Alice Duesing ('03), who went on to earn the Today's Top VIII Award, which is the highest NCAA honor a student-athlete can achieve.

Dunbar was named GLIAC and Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year in 2001-02 when she guided the Lakers to their first NCAA Tournament apperance since 1995-96. She was also named GLIAC Coach of the Year in 2004-05 after winning her fourth straight league title.

Dunbar, BA psychology '92, was a four-year starting guard and three-year co-captain at LSSU. She totaled 812 points and 278 rebounds during her career. Although she is about to be bumped down the list by one of her own players, she currently ranks sixth on career three point field goals with 88.

Dunbar begain he collegiate coaching career as an assistant varsity coach and head junior varsity coach at Elmira (N.y.) College and helped guide the Soaring Eagles to the 1996 and 1997 ECAC Upstate New York Championships. She earned a master's degree in education from Elmira in 1997.

Dunbar is a 1988 graduate of Sault Area High School, where she played basketball for her father, Tim Bullock. She is fourth on Saulth High's career scoring list.

Dunbar's ties to the Eastern Upper Peninsula have helped LSSU attract outstanding local players. She had seven Upper Peninsula players on the roster in 2003-04, four in 2004-05 and two this season.

In addition to her coaching duties, Dunbar is the LSSU Athletic Department's senior women's adminstrator and was recently promoted to associate director of athletics. She belongs to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan.
