Johnson is named to All-Great Lakes Region Second Team

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Lake Superior State senior forward Mandi Johnson was named to the Daktronics All-Great Lakes Region Second Team.

Johnson, of St. Ignace, Mich., was one of five Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference players to be recognized. The all-region first team included Darcee Schmidt and Mary Moskal of Lewis, Christina Jackson of Gannon, Rachel Folcik of Ferris State and Amber Rall of Ashland. Schmidt was the region's player of the year.

Other second-team selections included Amber Shelton of SIU-Edwardsville, Molly Carter of Drury, Crystal Zick of Grand Valley State and Brittany Winner of Northern Kentucky.

Johnson, who was also named to the GLIAC North Division First Team and All-Defensive Team for the second straight year, finished third in the league in steals (2.70 spg) and offensive rebounds (2.74 rpg), and was sixth in scoring (16.2 ppg) and overall rebounds (8.0 rpg).

Johnson finished ninth on LSSU's all-time scoring list with 1,353 points and takes over as the Lakers' all-time steal leader with 312. She also moved up to fourth on the career rebounding list with 780 and 10th in career field goals with 495.
