May 15, 2007 SAULT STE. MARIE - The Lake Superior State women's basketball team has signed guards Allison Jaynes of Dayton, Ohio, and Nicole Marshall of Frankfort, Mich., and forward Felicia Stora of Wayland, Mich., during the spring 2007 recruiting period. "We are thrilled to announce Allison Jaynes, Nicole Marshall and Felicia Stora as the newest members of our basketball team," LSSU head women's basketball coach Jamie Pewinski said. "All three of them are extremely competitive and have a desire to learn. They will add a lot of athleticism to the team and create some much-needed depth with their ability to play multiple positions. In addition to the early signees (Katherine LaPrairie and Emily Joseph), we feel strongly that this class will have a chance to make a huge immediate impact on this program." Jaynes (5-9) is the first out-of-state recruit signed by Pewinski, who is in her second season as LSSU's head coach and ninth season overall with the Lakers. Jaynes helped lead Miamisburg High School to a 20-3 record and Greater Western Ohio Conference title in 2007. During her sophomore season, Miamisburg finished 23-1 and won the Mid Miami League championship. Jaynes, a four-year letter winner in basketball and soccer, earned All-GWOC First Team honors in 2007 after averaging 13 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two assists per game. She shot 56 percent from the field and 82 percent at the free-throw line. She was named to the All-GWOC Second Team in 2006 and received All-Southwest Ohio District Division I Honorable Mention in 2006 and '07. Stora (6-0) missed half of her senior year at Wayland Union High School due to an injury, but averaged over 17 points and nine rebounds per game in the 12 contests in which she appeared. She was named to the All-OK Conference Gold and All-Allegan County Class A-B teams, and was named her league's defensive player of the year. Marshall (5-9) helped lead Frankfort High School to a 93-11 record during her four varsity seasons, which included Class D state titles in 2005 and '06. The three-time team captain earned Associated Press, Detroit Free Press and Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Class D all-state second-team honors. She was a unanimous pick on the All-Northwest Conference First Team and made the Traverse City Record Eagle All-Region Dream Team. Marshall averaged 15.4 points, three assists and 2.6 steals per game as a senior. She totaled 1,065 points, 248 assists and 208 steals during her career. She posted career averages of 11.6 points, 2.7 assists and 2.2 steals per game. Joseph, a fall 2006 recruit who will be playing in the BCAM All-Star Game on Aug. 4, finished her career with 973 points after averaging 14.7 points per game in 2006 at Sterling Heights-Henry Ford II High School. She had a career average of 10.9 ppg. LaPrairie (5-11), who also signed with the Lakers last fall, averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game at Rockford High School this season. She competed in the OK Conference Red Division. |
