BAY CITY - Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference softball coaches picked Wayne State and Grand Valley State to contend for the 2008 league title, while Lake Superior State was ranked 11th in the pre-season poll.

LSSU, which opens its season Saturday against Winona State in Ocoee, Fla., finished 7-33 overall and 2-18 in the GLIAC last season.

In the first National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll released on Jan. 30, GVSU was ranked 13th, Wayne State 20th and Ferris State 25th.
