No. 24 Rollins out-hits LSSU

WINTER PARK, Fla. - No. 24-ranked Rollins out-hit LSSU 16-5 to win Monday's softball double-header against Lake Superior State, 6-0 and 4-2.

Katie Brandt had LSSU's only hit in the shutout loss. Lake State pitcher Nikki Christensen gave up four earned runs on eight hits, three walks and three strikeouts.

Lake Superior State scored one run in the top of the fourth inning to snap a 0-0 deadlock during the nightcap, but Rollins (5-8) answered with three runs in the bottom of the fifth and one in the sixth. LSSU scored its final run in the top of the seventh.

Katie Brandt and Nichole Dunford had doubles for LSSU (2-4) in the nightcap. April Brandt added a single, and Amber Kern had the Lakers' lone RBI.

Laker pitcher Stephanie Reveley gave up four earned runs on eight hits, one walk and one strikeout.

The Lakers play 13th-ranked Grand Valley State (3-1) at 11 a.m. and Assumption at 3 p.m. today in Ocoee, Fla. The same teams also met on Sunday with GVSU winning 11-1 and LSSU beating Assumption, 5-3.
