KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Catcher Nichole Dunford hit her second home run of the week to help lead the Lake Superior State softball team to a 7-3 victory over Bellarmine on Monday at the Rebel Spring Games.

LSSU (2-4) also lost 3-2 to St. Joseph's (Ind.) to split its games against Great Lakes Valley Conference opponents. Today the Lakers play Central Missouri State and Kentucky Wesleyan.

Lake Superior State scored four runs in the third inning to break open the game against Bellarmine. Helena Zandarski, who was 3-for-4 at the plate for the game, led off with a single and stole second. April Brandt also singled, and Zandarski and Brandt scored on Dunford's home run. Ashley Yarrington reached first on a single, and pinch runner Lacey Knoop eventually scored on a hit by Sara Fox.

Fox was 2-for-3 for the game, and Lisa Dahm also contributed a hit. Winning pitcher Niki Christensen went the distance, totaling eight strikeouts and no walks while throwing an eight-hitter.
