March 8, 2007 WINTER PARK, Fla. - The Rollins softball team's offensive attack overpowered Lake Superior State to win 5-1 and 10-2 on Wednesday during an evening twinbill. Rollins (16-6) out-hit the Lakers 20-7 for the night. The highlight of the evening for LSSU (2-8) was Nicole Dunford's solo home run in the nightcap. It was her third homer of the week. Rollins pulled away from a 1-1 tie in the first game by scoring two runs in the fourth inning, and one each in the fifth and sixth innings. Lisa Dahm went the distance in taking the loss, allowing five earned runs on four walks and six strikeouts. Helena Zandarski, Dahm and Lacey Knoop had hits for LSSU. Dunford was 2-for-3 in the second game, while April Brandt and Dahm added one hit each. Rollins totaled 12 hits as Nikki Christensen and Stephanie Reveley combined to take the loss. Christensen struck out four and had no walks through 3.1 innings. LSSU returns to Kissimmee today to play Wisconsin-Parkside and Northern State. |
