Indy and West Virginia Wesleyan out-hit LSSU

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Lake Superior State softball team lost 9-1 to Indianapolis and 5-1 to West Virginia Wesleyan at the Rebel Spring Games on Saturday.

The Lakers (4-12) close out their spring trip with a twinbill Sunday against Central Missouri State.

April Brandt had a hit and the Lakers' lone RBI against Indianapolis (6-10). Katie Brandt contributed a double, and Nichole Dunford singled. Losing pitcher Nikki Christensen pitched 4 1/3 innings and took the loss. Six of the eight runs she gave up were earned. She struck out five batters and walked four. Reliever Claire Ostrowski gave up one unearned run on two hits during the final 1 1/3 innings.

Pinch hitter Jessi Ordiway blasted a one-run triple in the bottom of the seventh inning for LSSU's lone RBI against West Virginia Wesleyan (15-10). Dunford, Christensen and Erin Hulett added doubles.

Stephanie Reveley pitched a 10-hitter with one strikeout and three walks. All five runs were earned.
