Minnesota teams beat LSSU at Rebel Classic

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Lake Superior State softball team lost 7-6 to Minnesota State-Moorhead and 7-0 to Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday at the Rebel Spring Games.

The Lakers (3-13) conclude their spring trip today with games against Indianapolis and C.W. Post.

LSSU fought back from a 4-0 first-inning deficit against Moorhead and took a 6-5 lead in the sixth inning. Moorhead scored one run in the bottom of the sixth and one in the seventh to pull out the win.

Lacey Knoop led the Lakers with three hits including an RBI triple. Helena Zandarski, Ashley Yarrington, Rachel Hall, Amber Kern, Carrie Thompson, Sara Fox and Jessi Ordiway added one hit each.

Lisa Dahm went the distance in taking the loss. She gave up seven runs on 13 hits, three strikeouts and one walk.

Dahm had a double and April Brandt hit a single for LSSU's only hits against SW Minnesota State. SWMS scored five runs on two two-run homers and an RBI double by its clean-up hitter.
