Lakers lose two games at Gannon

ERIE, Pa. - Lake Superior State's pitching staff struggled through a tough day at Gannon on Saturday as the Lakers lost 12-4 in six innings and 11-1 in five innings.

LSSU (6-22 overall, 2-8 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) has an opportunity to regroup during Sunday's double-header at Mercyhurst.

Gannon (23-15 overall, 5-7 GLIAC) out-hit the Lakers, 28-16.

Sophomore Nichole Dunford was 2-for-4 with a triple in the first game and 1-for-2 with a double in the nightcap to go .500 for the day and lead the Laker offense. Rachel Hall was 3-for-3, and Helena Zandarski was 2-for-3 at the plate in the opener. Both juniors hit doubles during that contest.

Jennie Elliott, Nikki Christensen and Amber Kern added a single each in Game 1 as the Lakers totaled 10 hits. Kern was 2-for-2 and Christensen had a single during Game 2.

Stephanie Reveley took the first-game loss, and Christensen suffered second-game loss.
