April 15, 2007

MIDLAND - Gannon evened its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference record at 4-4, while Lake Superior State remained winless in league play following Sunday's 4-0 and 7-0 losses to the Golden Knights.

The twinbill, which was originally scheduled to be played in Sault Ste. Marie, took place in Midland. The Lakers (5-22 overall) will play makeup games on Tuesday and Wednesday at Findlay and Ashland, respectively.

Freshman infielder Lacey Knoop singled in both games to lead LSSU.

Helena Zandarski, Rachel Hall, Lisa Dahm and Nikki Christensen added one hit each in the opener. Dahm went the distance in taking the loss. She gave up four earned runs on nine hits, one walk and four strikeouts. GU catcher Kara Hensley hit two solo home runs to lead the Golden Knights.

Gannon (22-10) out-hit LSSU 12-2 in Game 2. April Brandt had the Lakers' only other hit. LSSU pitcher Stephanie Reveley totaled six walks and two strikeouts.
