April 17, 2007 FINDLAY, Ohio - The Lake Superior State softball team rallied to total 11 hits, and pitcher Nikki Christensen tossed a four-hit shutout en route to an 8-0 win Tuesday at Findlay. The Lakers (6-24 overall, 1-9 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) lost the nightcap, 3-1. They play another makeup double-header Wednesday at Ashland. April Brandt hit a double and triple to lead LSSU in Game 1. Helena Zandarski, Rachel Hall, Nicole Dunford and Christensen also had two hits each, and Lisa Dahm added one. One of Dunford's hits was a triple, and she was 4-for-6 at the plate for the day. Christensen struck out one batter and allowed one walk as she improved her pitching record to 3-4. Findlay (4-33 overall, 1-11 GLIAC) stranded five base runners. LSSU opened the game by scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. The Lakers also scored one in the third, one in the fifth and two in the sixth. Findlay out-hit LSSU 4-3 in Game 2. Dahm had the Lakers' only other hit. The Oilers pulled away from a 1-1 tie by scoring one run in the third inning and one more in the sixth. They also took advantage of three Laker errors. Dahm gave up four hits and two earned runs in taking the loss. She walked three and struck out three. |
