SAULT STE. MARIE - Sophomore first baseman Amber Kern was 3-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Lake Superior State softball team, which lost its home opener to Findlay, 6-2, on Friday at Kaunisto Field. Game 2 of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference double-header was postponed due to rain. A decision will be made on Saturday morning regarding a make-up game, which may have playoff implications for Findlay (9-29 overall, 6-13 GLIAC). Rachel Hall, Jennie Elliott, Nikki Christensen and Chelsea Maynard added one hit each for LSSU (8-31 overall, 2-17 GLIAC). Findlay scored three runs in the third inning, and added single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Christensen suffered the loss, giving up three earned runs on 12 hits, six strikeouts and one walk. |
