SAULT STE. MARIE - The Lake Superior State softball team has signed Rockford High School first baseman Samantha Klinkner to a National Letter of Intent.

Klinkner batted .404 from the left side at Rockford and went on to earn All-O.K. Conference Red Division and all-district honors in 2007. She was also her team's most-valuable player as a junior. She had a fielding average of .989.

Klinkner has played for the Elite and USA Fastball summer programs based in the Grand Rapids area.
