INDIANAPOLIS - The Lake Superior State women's tennis team defeated Southern Indiana 5-3 and Indianapolis 5-4 over the weekend to improve its standing in the Great Lakes Region and affirm its hold on an NCAA Tournament berth.

LSSU, which is ranked sixth in the region, has beaten three teams ranked among the top eight during recent spring matches. Indianapolis is ranked No. 2, while Southern Indiana is seventh.

Third-ranked Drury defeated the Lakers, 5-1.
