SAULT STE. MARIE - Bolstered by a tie-breaker win a No. 2 doubles, the Lake Superior State women's tennis team opened the 2006-07 season with a 6-3 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over Wayne State Friday in the Arbuckle Student Activity Center.

The LSSU No. 2 doubles team of Alex Chiakmakis and Megan LaMothe helped the Lakers take a 2-1 lead into the singles round by pulling out a 9-8 victory. The duo won the tie-breaker, 8-6.

The Lakers play host to Findlay at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Norris Center. WSU dropped to 3-1 overall and 0-1 in the GLIAC.
