Sept. 29, 2006 SAULT STE. MARIE - Undefeated Ferris State handed the Lake Superior State women's tennis team its first loss of the season, improving to 3-0 with Friday's 7-2 victory at the Norris Center. LSSU trailed 2-1 after doubles with Alex Chiakmakis and Megan LaMothe picking up a 9-8 win at No. 2 for the Lakers. LaMothe and Ferris State's Marissa Muchow then played a three-hour marathon match at No. 2 singles, with Muchow coming out on top, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3. Chiakmakis also won her No. 6 singles match by injury default. The Lakers dropped to 3-1 overall and 3-1 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. The play host to Grand Valley State at 10 a.m. on Saturday. FSU improved to 3-0 overall and in the GLIAC.
