SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State senior Megan LaMothe took Northwood's undefeated No. 1 singles player, Darina Berkova, to the wire before falling, 3-6, 6-2 (10-6) in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's tennis match Saturday at the Arbuckle Student Activity Center.

"Northwood's girl was the top-ranked player in the ITA Regional," LSSU coach Charlie Drury said. "Megan played an outstanding match against her."

Berkova improved to 12-0 for the season, while LaMothe dropped to 6-4. The Lakers lost the team decision, 9-0. The Timberwolves are 8-0 overall, while LSSU finished its regular season 0-9.
